About this centre

Su has been rescuing wildlife since childhood and for the past 18yrs has been a Voluntary Registered Bat Carer with BCT. If you find a bat grounded, lost, or injured in the North Dorset/South Wiltshire area, please contact Su for advice. Donations are much appreciated and every penny goes toward helping her purchase: bat food, medicines, heat mats, and other much-needed equipment.

When a rescued bat is recuperating and has shown that he can fly short distances in a soft playpen, Su then exercises her rescues in a 12 x 10ft purpose-built ‘Bat Flight’, in her garden. In the flight, bats build up their muscles in order to fly strong, manoeuvre quickly and catch insects on the wing. All bats need to be capable of feeding and caring for themselves when returned to their natural habitat and flying free.
